Location: Newark, Delaware
Reports To: Manufacturing Operations Specialist
Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Manufacturing Operations Specialist, the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and assigning work duties to all shift personnel to ensure that orders are properly filled, safety procedures are followed, quality standards are met, and all company policies and procedures are being followed.

Essential Functions:

  • Organize activities and assign duties of shift team members to ensure production schedule is followed.
  • Monitor performance of employees, ensuring training, rules and regulations, safety, quality, and housekeeping standards are being met.
  • Complete all required reports and shift paperwork necessary for production records, submitting all shift related paperwork at the completion of the shift.
  • Monitor all machines for problems at all times throughout the shift.
  • Ensure shift’s production team is accurately checking and recording product quality and machine parameters for correct settings; adjusting machines, as necessary.
  • Check and record cycles to make sure machine is running at maximum efficiency to produce quality parts, adjusting machines, as necessary.
  • Check work orders for correct product identification, component parts, labels, resin, and special customer requirements.
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and technical problems.
  • Assists in preventative maintenance activities, line changeovers, mold changes, resin changes, neck insert changes, and all other necessary changes to lines.
  • Maintain WIP inventory levels, ensuring accuracy of quantities and locations with each work order; presenting any issues or concerns to Manufacturing Operations Specialist.
  • Maintain supplies needed for production, order supplies when necessary.
  • Performs the tasks of operators or technicians when needed or requested.
  • Practice good housekeeping and 5S habits; promote these habits among production team.
  • Perform all duties according to ISO specifications and standards.
  • Work safely and observe safety rules at all times.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Effectively supervise and lead Production team members.
  • Evaluate employee performance at appropriate intervals and provide additional training resources, as needed.
  • Train and educate all employees on proper procedures for accomplishing all tasks safely, effectively, and efficiently for producing the highest quality product; partnering with Training Coordinator to ensure up-to-date records are maintained.
  • Counsel team members and refer any issues, including recommended solutions to the Manufacturing Operations Specialist and Human Resources.
  • Accountable for all safety, quality, discipline, production performance, and paperwork compliance to ensure that all product produced meets the customers’ needs and company standards.
  • Maintain atmosphere in department that promotes positive employee relations, teamwork, and employee cooperation.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years of mechanical and technical experience, preferably in plastics manufacturing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Strong reading and math skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to have subordinates follow leadership.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to walk through department numerous times per day and step up and down from platforms and catwalks.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, push, pull, and lift objects and/or equipment of various weight, size, and design.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Must have keen hearing to listen for mechanical functions.
  • Must have agility of hands, wrists, and arms.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Requires PPE to maintain clean room guidelines.
  • Requires exposure to equipment noise and dust.
