Job Details

We are hiring a Staff Accountant with a focus on Accounts Receivable to support our Accounting team.

Purpose of Position

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of functions in General Accounting and Accounts Receivable. The Staff Accountant provides total support to the Administration department and is required to complete all assigned duties with the highest quality possible and in a timely manner.

Essential Functions:

Accounts Receivable

  • Receives all checks and cash, posts in ERP system against the customer account.
  • Writing off customer balances approved by management.
  • Deposit all checks into the Cash Pro system for receipt into company operating account.
  • Monitor AR Aging report weekly, resolving balances over 30 days past due.
  • Contact customers with delinquent accounts receivable balances, requests payments, and coordinates all collection efforts.
  • Distributes monthly customer statements to customers.

Other Duties

  • Assist in month-end, year-end closing, and auditing processes.
  • Cross train in Accounts Payable.
  • Sort and distribute mail.
  • Review weekly Accounts Payable check run before checks are mailed.
  • Prepare and manage daily flash report and cash forecasting model.
  • Process Sales & Use Taxes and any other miscellaneous tax returns for state and federal agencies
  • Reconcile and adjust Prepaid Expenses and reconcile other balance sheet accounts assigned by Accounting Manager.
  • Assist with the implementation of ACH payment method and Fixed Assets into ERP system.
  • Perform other administrative duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned by Accounting Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Major ERP experience required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to all levels of employees.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Must have strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk length of the building or from department to department several times a day, as needed.
  • Agility of wrist, arms, and hands for typing and computer work.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment/Shared office space.
  • Occasional exposure to dust and noise in warehouse environment.
